This year for the Super Bowl XLVII 2013, the team match-up will be the San Francisco 49er’s against the Baltimore Ravens in New Orleans on Feb. 3.
One may wonder if anything is different or special about this Super Bowl, and the answer is yes. Both teams are undefeated in their Super Bowl records, making this game more epic than most before.
So whomever loses this game will have their first Super Bowl lost. I think Super Bowl XLV will be one of, if not the most, watched game in Super Bowl history.
Although the 49er’s hold the record for the only team in the National Football League to have a perfect record for multiple Super Bowls with a record of 5-0, the Baltimore Ravens have not lost either, winning one in 2001 against the New York Giants.
I also think plenty of people are going to be tuning into the game to watch Ray Lewis, defensive linebacker for the Ravens, because this will be his last game. Lewis will be retiring after 17 years in the NFL, and is known for being one of the best defensive players to ever play football.
I have really enjoyed this season, and with the all the craze about all the history between these two teams, I wonder what type of Super Bowl parties will be thrown.
Will students go to the lobbies of their residence halls to join in on the free food and big screen TV sets? Or will Wesleyan students hang out with friends off-campus and at local restaurants/bars?
Come on Wesleyan, join in on the festivities Feb. 3, they will not disappoint.
